I use incense sticks to calm my anxiety nerves, especially in the evenings when watching the telly. I gave up alcohol 9 months ago as alcohol was making me feel worse and into a vicious circle of panic attacks, anxiety and depression. Something has to give, so one day I woke up feeling very guilty and remorseful. I decided not to touch another drop ever since. The scary thought thats continue to haunt me to this day is the disappointed and angry look on my mothers face if I continued to drink. LizM40.

This sounds like it's worth a try for sure! There's a lot of links between smell and memory also so you could start with scents that remind you of safe places or happy times.

thanks for all your replies, cbt is not an easy choice as i live in spain but wont completely rule it out but for now will try some incense sticks and oil. I am trying to cut down on the alcohol but not easy.
