anyone else actually feel there pause skipping beats when you feel the flutters happening?! I the skipped beats today and actually check my pulse and felt the skip. Any tips of how to get rid of these? I don’t get light headed or have any other symptoms with them but they are super scary. Does drinking more water help?

There is a strong link between missed heartbeats and high anxiety. In the majority of cases these missed beats are harmless. But for complete reassurance it's best to visit your doctor for an EKG and ideally for a 4 hour Holter test where you wear a portable device that measures your heart's activity.

If as I suspect you are told all is well then your best way forward is to adopt a mental attitude of acceptance. They cannot put you in harms way and are no threat to your life so why worry yourself sick about them? There really is no need.

So stop constantly checking your pulse and get on with your life. Time spent worrying about harmless physical blips is a waste of your life.

I assume by PVC you mean premature ventricular contractions. I also have them. My cardiologist told me not to have any caffeine as that can make them worse. Also, He tests the number of pvcs about once a year with a Holter motor. He tells me that they are not dangerous unless they are more than 10 or 11% of total beats. I am lucky because I don't feel mine. They were just discovered in a routine visit to my internist. Are you seeing a cardiologist? If not, that would be good as I think it would help put your mind at rest. x

Oh how I would love to know how you and others like you don't feel them? When so many of us do. They are impossible for me not to feel. 🙄

I accept them as a normal part of me now, I notice there there but say hello to skippy unless I feel there different or more than I’d expect. Then I make sure I’m hydrated and not over tired. Get to know them and what’s okay to go with and what you should really get looked at. I do have generalised anxiety but not over this. The cardiologist says there not going to kill me and I know what to get concerned about with them. Good luck.

I have benign PVCS all day everyday for years. I just wore another holster monitor to make sure they haven’t gotten worse. Out of nowhere my heart will skip and jump into my throat. It is such a scary feeling - you would think I would get use to it since I have them everyday but no- they still scare the crap out of me even if they are harmless

I get it always and mine is as a result of anxiety. Maybe you can see a doctor to rule out any other health issues.

They are PVC's if you want to google them. Yes, they feel like a fish flopping around out of water. They can last for a few min. or I've had them for an hour. I've been to a cardiologist and had several tests, some actually did catch them. The Dr. told me they are not dangerous unless you eventually start having other symptoms. They just are sort of scarey.

I also have heart palpitations, and my doctors seem to think it's because of anxiety. My cardiologist recommended magnesium supplements. I did some research and found that magnesium can help with many things, anxiety and heart palpitations among them. I'm taking some magnesium supplements and they have definitely helped me. I would talk to your cardiologist and also do your own research. Look up Dr. Mandell and Sanjay Gupta on youtube. They both have several videos about magnesium, and Dr. Gupta's are focused specifically on heart related issues (he's a cardiologist).

thanks I actually just saw Sanjay Gupta on YouTube very helpful and reassuring. I’ve had multiple EKGs done even an echocardiogram and a stress test all came back normal. Oh yeah 1 week event monitor back 5 years ago. I don’t get them as often as I used to but they are still scary when they do come on

also I’m sure like almost everyone here I never felt these things until I developed an anxiety disorder whenever I was younger 17

We're in similar boats! I didn't have the palpitations until I started having these anxiety/panic attacks. I've also had more heart tests done than I can count and have been told that there's nothing wrong with me. I had the holter monitor on for a week. The palpitations still worry me though. There's just something unsettling with feeling my own heart do something weird. I just have to keep telling myself that the doctors have told me my heart is healthy. The magnesium helps for the palpitations, and I think it's helping with anxiety as well. I think drinking warm water, specifically, is supposed to help as well. Good luck to you!
