hello everyone, I just joined. I am at my wits end. Actively trying to get help but I have a question.
For the past 2 days I have been feeling like I’m hungover….. but I don’t drink anymore. Exhausted, stomach hurts, brain fog, muscle aches. I can’t get enough sleep. I’ve also been having anxiety attacks the past 2 days. I googled “emotional hangover “ today and found something called an anxiety/panic attack hangover. This is a real thing? Has anyone else ever experienced something similar to this?

hello, thank you so much for the warm welcome! I needed that today. I never thought about how much the mind and body connect. I’ve had this hungover feeling before but today was the first day I actually looked it up. I guess I’ll take care of myself the next couple days and hope it subsides.
What you are feeling is very common after having a prolonged panic/anxiety episode. For me it was a very physical experience and I would feel somewhat depressed and fatigued for days afterward and have similar sensations as you are experiencing. The brain is also directly connected to and influenced by our gut (the gut-brain axis) so having digestive issues is very common.
Yes it is. I have been having pretty severe anxiety and panic attacks for 3 years now, and my body tends to go into fight or flight mode which causes my body to tremble and shake. Later I’m sore, tingly, and very tense. From what I’ve learned our body uses a lot of resources and energy during a panic attack, so feeling hungover after one makes sense.
