Hi - I’ve taken a look at Dr Claire Weekes books, what one would you recommend as a start? My anxiety is worse in the mornings too and is being caused by some recent health issues. Many thanks x

Hey,yes I do every morning. Something just feels off every morning, but as soon as I wake up and observe my surroundings I feel better. Also I listen to music if I feel like I'm about to have a panic attack. Hope you feel better soon

Hi Jacko I suffer from morning anxiety too. It does die down later in the evenings. I dread going to bed because I know I'm going to wake up with it. I get a terrible churning in my stomach and shake. I usually listen to an anxiety meditation on you-tube and try to relax. What helps you.?

HiI listen to anxiety meditation on insight timer. I also try and keep myself busy by cleaning or playing a game on my phone.

My anxiety feels like my mind is moving fast, fast heart rate and eyes out on stalks.

Hi Jacko3, it seems I missed your post several days ago.I hope my experience in dealing with morning anxiety may help.

I too had help with reading Dr. Claire Weekes book "Hope & Help

for Your Nerves" in learning that acceptance of anxiety in itself can

help reduce your fear. Once we feed into our feelings, the fear grows

causing anxiety to spiral.

Also in the mornings, our Cortisol and Adrenaline hormones run high.

Upon awakening, our thoughts for day can be overwhelming, worrying

about the "what if's" etc.

There may be no magic pill that helps but there is a key to lowering your

anxiety level through daily meditation and breathing. It is not only when

you are in the throes of anxiety but must become a part of your daily ritual.

In doing this, you prepare your mind to adjust to the sudden spikes of anxiety.

Starting with a meditation upon awakening helps prepare you for the day.

Mid afternoon (5 min) meditation can help regenerate the body through the

day's events. And once again before going to sleep at night, meditation and breathing

which allows your subconscious mind to delete the negativity of the day. Leaving you

with positive affirmations while you sleep can allow your mind to rest into a REM sleep.

It takes at least 30 days for your mind to adjust to this positive approach. It's like depositing

into a savings account, the more you have, the more prepared you are when you need it.

Please continue to use this safe forum where people share their own journeys with anxiety.

Not everything works for everyone but it should help in acquiring some new ideas. :) xx
