Unfortunately there is no cure for tinnitus, but the symptoms can somewhat be treated. There is a device that is like an ear plug people use that is supposed to help. It can be found below.
You probably haven’t looked up acamprosate. It was developed for something else but someone had the bright idea it might work for tinnitus. See my reply to Annabella76, but here’s from PubMed: “The study results indicated a subjective relief of tinnitus as well as some degree of the electrophysiological improvement at the level of the cochlear and the...” [pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/325...]
Three things: (a) Tinnitus is often associated with anxiety (it is in my case). Benzodiazepines help more than anything else but as everyone here knows, they’re addictive.
(b) Acamprosate helps. Just google “333 mg tinnitus.” I tried it a few years ago, and it did help—but there are side effects; I won’t tell you mine because you might have none or they might differ in your case. The only reason I stopped acamprosate is that it brought the tinnitus down from a 6 to a 3—but about a year later the tinnitus kind of became 3 all the time, and acamprosate ceased to help. Here’s a copy-paste from PubMed: “The study results indicated a subjective relief of tinnitus as well as some degree of the electrophysiological improvement at the level of the cochlear and the...”
(c) The *B E S T* thing for tinnitus IMHO is Ginkgo Biloba; the side effects? Man your brain goes hyper as in you’re thinking all the time, your thought processes change, etc etc—well, that’s what it did in my case back in 2002. I used it for only a week even though it pretty much *vanquished* the tinnitus.
