Night sweats and worried.

44 year old male here. Having drenching night sweats. MRI, CT scans, endoscopy, colonoscopy blood work came back clean but I'm freaking out. Neck pain, night sweats, and stomach pain. Googling it brings up the C word. I called my doctor but they aren't as scared as me. I'm ready to go to the ER. Please let me know if anyone has experienced this. Thank you

I did experience all of your symptoms during menopause. It was due to hormonal changes in my body. And men get menopause also not just women. It could be low or high testosterone. Talk to a doctor who specializes in male change of life issues. Good luck.❤

Thank you for your time and advice. I'm taking to my doctor today. I'm one of those people that need to check off all the boxes. I have appointments coming with ENT, Urologist, and requesting an back and MRI scan to see if I have nerve damage among other things. Thank you!

The only time I had night sweats was the week after giving birth (big hormone drop) so I agree hormones might be to blame. The cancer that comes to mind is lymphoma but I think you shouldn’t jump to that conclusion if you don’t have the other symptoms of that and you’ve had clear scans. The neck and stomach pain might just be stress related to worrying about the night sweats. You may be holding a ton of tension. Advocate for whatever other tests will put your mind at ease but also try to take care in the meantime with something each day that relaxes you and keeps you off Google!

Talked to my doctor a little while ago. He said nothing on your scans indicate lymphoma but I told him why would I suddenly have drenching sweats and severe neck and stomach pain? He said we will keep searching but he's pretty sure it's not the C word but the way I feel right now I just want to crawl into a hole. Pain is awful. I'll give this until over the weekend and see what happens. I have a scheduled ENT appointment next week. I'll try to relax but easier said than done. Thank you for your advice.

Yes try to trust your doctor and take it one appt at a time. It’s so hard waiting. Have you talked to anyone else in your family or friends about this? I know when I’ve had health worries I tend to keep it inside and not want to worry people but find that telling one friend can help reduce the anxiety and put it in perspective rather than spinning in my head. But I really doubt it’s lymphoma if you’ve had all those tests done already- maybe something hormone related, stress related, or an autoimmune thing? Sorry not much help here but there are many less sinister things it could be, hopefully very treatable to give you some relief.

Yes I'm talking to everyone about this. It's so crazy to be in this pain. The only thing I can think of is if I damaged nerves somehow? Thank you for understanding. I'll get light headed sometimes. I'm trying though. A couple of appointments this week so I'll keep you posted. Thank you

Do you have any swelling in your lymph nodes? If you did they would show up on the Ct scan. The type of cancer your referencing is leukemia and lymphoma. That being said your blood work is normal, cT , MRI , colonoscopy, endoscopy are all normal. The blood work would certainly show elevated white blood cell counts , low platelets, high absolute lymphocyte counts and so on. Maybe your thyroid needs to be checked so bring that up to your Dr. don’t give up until you get to the bottom of it.

Best wishes

John

Thank you so much! I'll ask about my thyroid. I have the ears nose throat doctor this week as well as the urologist. I'm not leaving any stone unturned. Thank you for making me feel better. I always think with these scans if they could miss something but you're probably right as far as blood work and scans. I'll keep everyone posted with these appointments. Thank you!!

I've heard that some people can have night sweats when they're feeling anxious, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. However, let us know if you find anything. Don't feel too stressed, though. I've heard many people have that at times.

Thank you had a urologist prep today for the 22nd. ENT this Thursday. I wish I had a friend who was a Doctor so I can run these test faster. It's like slow motion for me right now. I'll definitely keep everyone posted.

I am a mirror image with your symptom. Night sweats I have had on and off for 3 years. I am still searching for answer. In August i was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and still having meds increased 6 weekly intervals. Just wondered if you got your thyroid checked. Also I had a CT scan 4 weeks ago all clear. And covid vaccination 3 weeks ago. My night sweats seem to have triggered off since these events.
