Coming off amitriptyline
I hope you are going well with your reduction in doses. I would highly recommend you consult your doctor or psychiatrist to develop a very, very slow taper plan from now on. Doctor supervision is extremely important in case you have withdrawal symptoms or suffer a relapse. Your body chemistry has been stable for so long and now is changing. Regular contact is required, at least every 3-4 weeks, either online or over the phone if surgery visits are not possible due to Covid-19.
I came off a low dose many years ago with the help of my doctor who prescribed something regarded as less toxic which has now been blacklisted.Your doctors input is vital.Good luck!
Hi, I too am coming off Amitriptyline, it has been good while it lasted but this drug has seriously affected my life to an extent I never though possible. The withdrawal though is worse!
Hey just wondering how you are getting on now with your withdrawal? I’m in a whole world of weirdness. I’ve been on Amitriptyline for years now for anxiety and depression but felt it had stopped working. I’m changing to Citalopram but really struggling with the withdrawal symptoms. Sweats and shakes. I hope you doing ok now?
Hi JLl01, it's been a strange journey! I am now down to a quarter of a tablet. The withdrawal have been hard to deal with with the paranoia difficult to deal with. I have added 5-htp supplement in the evening which seems to be helping with the fatigue and sleep disturbances. I am determined to get off these evil tablets. The shakes have eased off but still having issues with a rapid heartbeat and feeling like it's missing a beat/beats. It is easing though so keep going x
