Hello :-)

I do feel for you , I have HA and certain things have triggered it of full blown again and I am having a dreadful time

Last week I was worried over my heart this week I feel a pain and think there is a little lump about 2 inches from the left side of my belly button and now feel physically sick as I am agoraphobic and chronic ocd and with the COVID I just don't know how I will get medical help as the Doctors are not very forth coming in doing visits even though they know all about my issues

I totally get what you are going through at night and it is awful when you wake up in your sleep with that feeling

I would have suggested the relaxation before bed but you are doing it , all I can really say is when it happens try and recognise it is your anxiety and try not to fear it , easier said than done I know

If you have a good Doctor talk with them and friends and family talk to them to if you feel they would just listen and even if they don't understand be there for you :-)

You can always come on here of course and talk with us which hopefully may help a little bit to :-)

Take Care x

Yep, sounds familiar... As a long-time health anxiety sufferer, I know exactly how you feel. I've found that writing works for me - I open Notepad on my laptop and just let loose. Getting things out of my head and onto the page makes me feel a bit lighter. But on the whole, health anxiety is a thief that never stop taking.. Distractions help, too. I've recently taken up programming. Once I get in the zone when working on a problem, I find that anxiety eases up. When you stop giving it your full attention all the time, it weakens. Hope you find whatever works for you. Keep fighting.

u are so so right...if u occupy yourself for some unknown reason the anxiety goes away....ive taken up colouring in...and getting music on spotify, cleaning constantly, painting the cement steps....anything just to forget the anxiety and it works.good advice ....

My anxiety was always far worse in the morning. So much so that my psychiatrist put me on Xanax for mornings. That helped. Especially while the antidepressants were kicking in. It took awhile to find the right combination of meds for me but we finally figured it out and I feel like I’m on an even playing field again. Hang in there. I know how hard it is.

What kind of shaking are you talking about? Shivers, like you’re cold? Or more like convulsions you can’t really control?

I wake up a lot shaking too and it definitely freaks me out. When that happens to you, do you also feel kind of light headed, panicky, and weird?

No not cold just shake when I wake up even in middle of night it wears off eventually ye panics me too love horrible feeling light headed too dread getting out of bed as I’m always tired out xxx

Hi,

That was me for a very VERY long time.. and it still doesn't escape me much these days. Every single morning I would wake up and immediately be dizzy and it would ruin my entire day. I barely sleep well at night at all so im constantly tired.

I am on a couple different meds for this. I take pristiq ( desvenlafaxine) for my generalized anxiety. Right when I wake up in the morning I immediately take propranolol and lorazepam to try to stop the anxiety and dizziness as soon as I can. Most days it works but I notice if I sleep in really late, my anxiety is worse and my day is a little more stressful. It's such a battle that I've been trying to fix for so long but I still don't know what to do. My life is also constant go go and people pleasing ... So it can be so stressful when I wish I could just relax and not worry about anything. I always wish I could run away but that's not an option. I'm sorry you feel this way. I'm still working on it too... But honestly the best thing I ever did was finding a psychiatrist to help me instead of a general practitioner.

I have this as well. I have suffered from Health Anxiety off and on since my teens, but it has been the worst the past 3 years. My anxiety is always that my heart has a problem, I will drop dead, have a stroke or heart attack or faint from something sudden and serious. It’s a constant daily worry. The evenings and when working out I seem fine, but the rest of the day is a bear. Breathing exercises and relaxing helps as well as

Trying to stay occupied with my work, but it’s a battle. Wish you the best.

I know exactly how you feel. I have been like that for 10 years now. Been to a lot of specialists then end up in a Psychiatrist. A month ago I was brought to the ER cause I woke up uneasy and felt dizzy at 4 am. It was the worse attack I've ever experienced. I felt like I was dying cause I can't breathe and my thinking was I was having an aneurysm or something. But when I was at the ER the doctor just gave me pain reliever cause I had pains at the nape area for several days, they took my blood pressure and it was normal.

So they advised me to just take a rest and go home. Then I sent a message to my psychiatrist cause I cant go to the clinic physically because of COVID. She advised me to take Xanor if ever the attack will come back. Although, I've been taking Duloxetine 30 mg for 7 months now I still have anxiety/panic attacks sometimes. So, If ever you feel like something is wrong with you. Just think that it's only anxiety and it will just pass by. Talk to a family member or a friend. Laughter is the best medicine. Keep going. :)

I feel this! I’ve recently switched from Effexor to Prozac for my anxiety and I went through the worst side effects ever. I went to the ER three times in a week and everyone I was completely healthy it was just my anxiety causing me literate physical symptoms. It’s mush easier said then done but when you do start to feel panic and like you are gonna die or something awful is going to happen to you, you have to try and realize it is purely just the anxiety causing you all these symptoms. It will get better with time and consistent mind over matter practice. Good luck with everything and I hope you start to feel better soon!

Hi Jimmyluke55, I know exactly what you’re feeling and talking about. I woke up shaking just about every day for months. I’d wake up and the anxiety would just completely take over my body and I’d immediately start shaking and other times I actually woke up from sleep shaking. For me this gradually lessened over time as I let go of my health anxiety (I had been sick and thought I was dying but had a bunch of tests and doctors tell me I was okay which helped and they finally diagnosed me with TMJ disorder and going to therapy/physical therapy/chiropractor helped so much) and I was put on Ativan and Zoloft. I really think the Zoloft is what helped the anxiety the most and helped me get my life back. The Zoloft got me to a point where I didn’t wake up shaking or scared. I got up and was able to get back on my feet and back to living my life. So Ever since November 2019 it hasn’t happened. I still have a little anxiety as I always have but it’s no where near as bad as it was. I also got tired of the Zoloft because of the weight gain so now I’m taking Wellbutrin and seem to still be doing alright. I would say try to see a psychiatrist or a primary care doctor and talk about some medication options. They might be just what you need for a short period of time to get your life back. I wish you luck and I hope you feel better soon :)

well i hope no one gets offended if I say this..... i do not believe in Psychiatrists. At the end of the day they prescribe pills. I believe in having a really good mate that you can rely on 24/7...some one that will listen and care. Psychiatrists have umpteen patients. they are not there for you. Its a job and money for them. Yes they may be able to help in some way....by finding out why u suffer from Anxiety. but honestly I think it is a deep seated problem that no one can help except yourself .....i do believe in being occupied as that certainly helps for a few hours. and I do believe in having a close friend u can rely on plus this forum. Ive had anxiety for years and have been on lorazapran for 16 years. it doesn't seem to help much though i do sleep well with them. I actually have anxiety attacks every single day, all day until I go to sleep....whether they be panic attacks or anxiety attacks I do not know. But they have consumed my life. I don't like to go out, I think Im going to die at the slightest headache or big toe pain, Im envious of any body that has a normal life and is happy. I feel like everyone is looking at me when I do go out......thinking how ugly I am or that I have two heads. I worry all the time about the safety of my children who mind u are in their forties. It is a sickness I wouldn't wish on anyone. Im always thinking of death....scared stiff of death, petrified of it. My head is working 24 hours a day about what I don't know....(Pity it didn't work this much when I was at school lol ) My hands feel a bit numb, my heart seems to beat fast though its not. It beats in my throat though it feels like that.I think everyone is talking about me, though they should have more interesting things to talk about.....but its what Im feeling inside. so back to Psychiatrists......I went to see one when I was in America.....each week a visit....perhaps ten visits, $200 a pop. Prescribed Lorazapran and fifteen years later still feel exactly the same as I did the first visit to the Drs. Now I live in Thailand and have a wonderful indian GP......he tells me Im nuts but i like his honesty...he writes out my prescription every three months and Im still suffering from panic attacks. that's life.....i have to learn to cope and keep occupied...end of story morning glory....

in reply toJackaroo

Doctors usually prescribe pills too...but we still need to visit them from time to time, psychiatrists can often work wonders for some people, but as with all things, it's finding the right one for you.
