Total Withdrawal from Venlafaxine...

Hi,

I'm going through hell at the moment.....eventually tapered down from Venlafaxine with the support of a Pychatrist.

I've now been off this drug for 4 wks and the symtoms are getting worse.

However, over the past 20 years have been taking this horrible drug....needed to come off it because I believed it had stopped working..

I'm taking Levothyroxine (mood enhancer) 150 mg per day. But, was prescribed these 8 months ago anyway in connection to the "tapering off Venlafaxine ".

I have a prescription for 14 days Prozac but trying not to collect it due to confusion as to whether, in the long run, I will yet again be addicted to an antidepressant.. ??

At the moment,I really cant cope with horrendous , crippling and unmanageable Withdrawl symtoms from this horrible drug:

I simply cannot cope. Plus I have other ongoing issues: Bereavement- mum died 16 months ago:

My daughter, age 20 has left home to live with her boyfriend, she is still at University, but is so hostile and deeply angry with me, and that hurts like mad.

I have developed intense Vitiligo which, as spread at an alarming rate.. which is has had a devastating severe psychological effect:

Going back to original issue, can I ask has anybody successfully come totally off Venlafaxine? And if so, what was your experiences?

And finally, please, is there anybody who can help and advice?

Love to you all, Booblet ××××

I totally understand what your going through I was on the highest dose for 4 years 10 years ago. They eventually wore of. Gave me bad sweats and the harder I worked I literally sweated the drug out my system so they was working shorter and shorter. They gave me such a energy boost when I took them so was always grafting at work. And when they wore of it was like a come down. I called it speed (Amphetamine) take one and you buzzing but when it wears of u just sink into depression so I went to my gp to find out that they are very addictive, was told before I took them that they wasn’t!!! So I asked to come if them and he told me you have to do it very slow as the side effects are extremely bad! First week I hit rock bottom. And knew this is only one week and the way I’m weening would take 6 months! So I bite the bullet and stopped them abruptly, shouldn’t have done it but I though I’d rather suffer quicker than for a long time.

It’s the worse drug I have ever take. Took me over a year to fully recover I had served cold turkey then the dreaded dizziness for 4 months. It’s a awful drug and I wouldn’t ever go back on it. Longer your on them longer the recovery my gp said it can take upto 2 years to fully recover. But that was my story and what I went through I just hope you recover soon as I understand your pain! Just try not to overthink it. Diazepam helped me come of them

I’d ask for some Valium and get lots of rest, try and sweat as much of it out as you can.

The side effect I had coming of them is everything I thought at time I would die! Dosent help when you have manic anxiety! Anatriptline not sure how to spell it I was given to help come of them aswell but I just stuck to diazepam 5mg x3 a day with zopiclone at night. As I also have insomnia
