Hey Rob-B1, I'm sorry. I just saw that your last 3 posts weren't answered.

Definitely need to do something about chain smoking especially with what's

going on. It will hinder your recovery.

I've never been a smoker so I can only equate it to me stopping Chocolate and

that's probably not even close to stopping nicotine. Good Luck :) xx

Rob, I do agree with lulu-1 in that this might not be the right time to be

quitting with all the stress around us. Cutting back would be good and not

give you more anxiety than you need right now. :) xx

Hello :-)

I was a smoker for years , was only when I got pneumonia last year I stopped which has been about 14 months now

There was always a theory that smoking made your anxiety worse , but have to say I found smoking calmed me down , if it is mind over matter I don't know , I just know it did

Since stopping I do think my anxiety has got worse and I do crave one especially at the moment , but so far I have not caved in to temptation but I would say been an ex smoker I can understand how someone feels it is helping them :-) x

Hello :-)

I totally get why you feel smoking is helping

I stopped just 14 months ago after having pneumonia and I won't lie I really do miss it but the health benefits and the scare I had I resist going back a day at a time

Now would not be the time personally I don't think to stop smoking with all this anxiety , but maybe try and cut back a little ?

When you feel you want one , say I will wait another 10 mins then have one , and after 10 mins try and tell yourself maybe you could go a few more minutes longer ?

Or the other thing I used to do , is have a couple of drags to give me that fix and then flip it and keep doing that , not sure if you have tried that one ?

I don't know how many you smoke , but say if it was 20 a day , could you just put out to start with 18 a day , then a few days later 17 and so on

Smoking is no good for our health we all know that but also there is a right time to stop and at the moment I would not think this is that time , but with every one less you do smoke per day you will be helping yourself :-)

The anxiety you are feeling though , smoker or none smoker let me reassure you we are all feeling it , I am struggling such a lot with my anxiety to , you are not alone :-)

Take Care x
