Mirtazapine and alcohol?

I’ve been taking Mirtazapine for about 4.5 months.

I haven’t had a drink of alcohol for about 3 years as it seemed to make my anxiety worse the day after.

I’ve been invited to a family party but I don’t have the confidence to go and be around other people especially when they will all be in party mode obviously and I’m in anxious mode! This year has been a really crap one, I had a breakdown and my mum has got cancer. I just feel like I’m not like everyone else or like the person I used to be.

So I was thinking having a drink might help me loosen up and get in the mood to join in?

Anyone on here drank alcohol on mirtazapine that wasn’t a big drinker before taking mirtazapine ?

hi ive been on mirtazapine for about 7 years maybe 45mg.i drink every couple of weeks and yeah the anxiety does kick in afterwards.if its a family party I gather food will be provided so if you do end up having a drink then make sure you eat in between and drink slower.you been off it for three years now that's great I probably wouldn't bother if it was me.but if you do be wise you could be drunk easily having stayed off it for three years.

Hi Amber, I am on 22.5mg of mirtazapine & like u I’m not a big drinker tho I do like the odd glass of wine & I find 2 glasses is enough to help me relax & it doesn’t make me feel worse the next day 😃😃

I’ve been on mirtazipine for over a year. And I’ve drank on them. And to be honest it does raise my anxiety slightly. And the next day is horrendous
