Does anyone else get throat related symptoms from anxiety? Ever since I've been stressed recently I've felt a lump sensation in my throat as well as an awkward feeling when swallowing. A bit like something's getting stuck but its only when I think about it. As well as that I have an irritation in my throat when talking like my voice box is irritated and tight as well as a what feels like a physical tightness in the area of my throat just under my chin. I do have acid reflux (or LPR to be precise) but these symptoms are new to me. I'm wondering if the physical tightness all around my neck and throat are causing this. I do have a GP appointment next week to see if they think its reflux related but I'd be interested to see if anyone else has this from anxiety. X

I had that for a couple months kept thinking it was Strep throat but nothing. Finally, got tests and nothing either. Doctor suggested it was like esophagitis. Went away after a course of extra strength Zantac. Anxiety does make reflux worse and thus possibly giving you a sore throat. Do you have any ear pain or pressure? It can do that too. :/
I have the exact same thing and it's anxiety related. Especially if you tend to hold your stress in neck/shoulder area. The muscles in the neck make the throat feel tight. I also have reflux and sinus drainage which means I'm constantly clearing my throat which also irritates it. I take Prilosec for the reflux which helps. I also have ear pain off and on. The ears, nose and throat are all connected so it's not unusual to feel those symptoms.
Totally agree with FordMus84. I had exact same symptoms and the more I concentrated on that area and obsessed over it the worse it got to the point when you become desperately worried it’s the worst illness. I took a tiny muscle relaxant Tranquimazin 0.25 to be precise and the whole issue improved over a few hours to the point where I didn’t know what I’d been worrying about.... another stress symptom pushing me to the edge of despair! There was NOTHING wrong with me and there won’t be with you either I’m certain. Sending warm wishes.
