I have felt constant pain and tension in my back and shoulders now for months. The tension is now spreading to my neck which is giving me annoying throat symptoms (lump in my throat etc), then its started spreading lower into my lower back and even around the front under my ribs. I've see a doctor who just said its muscular and I can be referred to a physio if I want but that's a 6 month waiting list to just be sent away with some exercises and if it caused my stress I need to deal with the cause and not the symptoms. Its easier said than done though and I feel like I'm just getting worse and worse. Does anyone else get this? Is there anything you find helps? X

Constant pain and I'm fed up
Hi Gemp54,
If you read some of my posts, you'd see that I suffer exactly the same as you do.
Unfortunately though, I do not have an answer. I only know I am a shallow breather, I seem to hold my self rigid.
The muscle pain makes me feel nauseous, it upsets my stomach/bowels, so I'm either one way or another, if you get my meaning.
I have had physio, mri, endoscopy, blood tests, all OK.
I think about it too, much. Wondering how today will be, what hurts, oh no if that hurts, that means this will happen.
I need to be distracted, I have very brief periods of that and am so happy for a few moments, until I realise and it all comes flooding back. One single twinge and I'm off!
At the moment I'm figuri g my breathing is the culprit, as I was told once a shallow breather uses his/her back muscles to compensate, consequently causing the pain... How true this is I don't know, if anyone out there has any info on this be grateful to hear it.
I'm not a drug taking person, have tried a few things, but nothing has helped me, not even pain killers, they don't touch it.
I take the odd 2mg diazepam only if really needed, and the same with an anti nausea drug Domoeridon.
I like you am at my wits end with this. I am sorry I cannot offer a solution, but at least you know you are not suffering alone.
Take a look into shallow breathing, maybe we'll find an answer together.
Best wishes xx
Thanks so much for the reply. Having read your posts it's amazing how similar our symptoms are. I too am a shallow breather although I hadn't noticed until recently. I notice you also get ear symptoms although mine is more a blocked feeling in and off whereas your posts talk about tinnitus. I also get the burning type feeling in my throat which you've talked about. I do get acid reflux (probably due to stress) but it doesnt quite feel like that and seems to be more like an immediate reaction, like I've poured something acidic or hot straight down there. Interestingly I noticed on one of your posts that you felt bad after eating and someone else replied to say something similar. I recently did an intolerance test in desperate hope it might reveal something and it did show a couple of things I wasnt expecting-coffee and a gluten protein for example. I eat a lot of gluten and drink a lot of coffee and when I looked up some possible reactions to gluten and coffee and they can include muscle aches, stomach ache and cramp, increase in anxiety and depression. I might try cutting out coffee and also reducing or cutting out gluten for a bit to see what happens. Also, i bought a magnesium spray which has been recommended for muscle aches to see if that will help rather than turning to pain killers. Xx
Hi,
I will try to cut out the gluten, don't drink coffee, but I will deffo try the gluten, I eat a lot of that... Sugar too is supposed to be bad... Nightmare!
I do sometimes get a blocked feeling in my ears, what with that and the tinnitus... I blame my jaw clenching.
I suppose when you look at us and our symptoms, it's like one symptom causes another and then we panic and worry. I have got a magnesium spray, but I haven't persevered with it.
So I am going to concentrate on breathing better and cut out gluten... A plan!! Take care xx

You might find this an interesting read.
That was really interesting and the breathing seems a likely cause of a lot of my problems. Funnily enough on thing I have had these last few days is a stitch like feeling in my right hand side that wont go away. I had it just after trying to stretch my back out and I thought I'd pulled something but when I looked it up a lot of websites talked about it being caused by persistent shallow breathing and also with diaphragm issues. I'll definitely try the breathing exercises and adjust my diet and fingers crossed we can both find some relief from these horrible symptoms! Xx
And I thought I was alone ! This pain sucks , I’ve been living with constant pain since 2010 yet doctors don’t know why 😞
