I’ve reduced my Zoloft in the past couple weeks by 25 mg. I went from 150 to 125. My psychiatrist wanted the reduction to see if it would help with my dizziness/ vertigo... the idea was that maybe the 150 was too much. However, my symptoms persist. I had a great stretch last week and now this past week has been really tough.
Is it common when reducing to get spaciness/dizziness? Maybe it’s allergies? It’s frustrating because this is a new symptom I haven’t had in the past. I’ve been cut out all my herbal teas trying to find the source.

In the past when I’ve tried reducing my tablets I experience really bad dizzy spells and would feel very spaced out, not a nice feeling but should go with time! Hope you are ok
Usually for me it would last a couple of weeks at the most! I did once have a treatment with the doctor where he moved my head around in different positions to move the crystals in my ears, sounds bizarre but it helped, another thing is anti sickness tablets, they can really help with the dizziness
It’s called ‘The Epley Maneuver’ if you want to ask about it.
I spoke with a pharmacist yesterday about the odd spaciness I’m getting. I seem to get it more when I’m actually on Zoloft, vs the off days. The way it was explained to me was that the brain had a bunch of chemicals shoved in, and reducing it even a little will make side effects come up. It’s normal, and it sucks. My taper *seems* to be going well... I was feeling jittery earlier, but now I feel more normal. Today was spacey at times and it’s a day I’m on it.
Keep monitoring it. I think anything odd at this point is from the Zoloft.
Side note: question. I’m wondering if this was allergies. I had this sensation like pressure was being released from my ears, specifically my left, which felt clogged on and off. Did you ever have that? I’ve never really felt that prior ever but it started on week 2 or 3 of Zoloft.
Eh. Feeling pretty discouraged this week as I’ve had some awesome days in the past couple weeks. I really feel like the Zoloft makes things worse for me, but I’m terrified of switching or trying something different.
That’s how I feel, too. Completely... I don’t want to go on anything else because Zoloft really altered things for me. I hope I’m ok without it, but I’m open to betablockers IF things spiral. They’re apparently not addictive and don’t alter brain chemistry. Keep me posted! I just hate how weird Zoloft made things. Incredibly hard to focus on getting better when you feel weird 24/7.,
Hi it sounds to me like you could be reducing too quickly. See if your psychiatrist agrees to do it a bit slower as this should help with the spacey feelings. x
