Hi everyone.
I just wanted to hear from people that have lived with severe anxiety symptoms and that have recovered when they never thought they would.

Hi Minnie
I'm 51. I figured it out and I've had moderate to severe anxiety for a total of about 16 years, interspersed, during my life, starting at age 13. I'd say that a total of 6 of those years were severe with many physical manifestations. I'd recover each time, due to time passing, my situation changing for the better sometimes, and then my nervous system simply settling down, but it was this last bout of severe anxiety, about 1-1/2 years ago, where I ended up finding complete, and what I believe to be, permanent recovery. Once that happened, I joined this board. I have so much empathy for what folks are experiencing, and I hope to be as supportive and encouraging as possible.
If you look through old posts, you'll see that many people leave the board after a period of time. I'm sure there are many reasons for that, but I imagine that many folks recover, then move on. So you may not find many replies here for that reason
hello Minnie, I had high-functioning anxiety disorder/panic attacks for years. i went to therapy and was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder. A few years ago, I realized that what I had was actually social anxiety disorder. I've since recovered because i was persistent and willing to keep seeking answers and change.
I’ve have it on and of throughout my life and you will always have periods of being well...sometimes for years. I was extremely bad late 2013/early 2014 and it took a long time to get over but I’m now in the final year of a degree and have a job as a manager. I would have never thought this was possible. My favourite saying regarding anxiety is “This too shall pass” as it always does.
