Has anyone on here ever had brain fog, off balance, heavy headedness, anxiety due to neck problems? My neck doesn't hurt but someone I spoke with said a chiro can possibly help these symptoms if it is neck related. I stress a lot so my neck has a lot of tension most days.
Chiropractor?: Has anyone on here ever had... - Anxiety Support
Chiropractor?
I feel the same, but idk if its neck problems
Honestly I think it's a waste of money. I saw a chiropractor because of my neck tension and dizziness, and he tried to sell me on the idea that all of my problems were due to my neck. It wouldn't hurt to maybe try a couple appointments but DO NOT let them talk you into prepaying for appointments. So many of them try to get you to pay over a 1000 dollars for a treatment plan that will "cure" you. Money is better spent on things that help your anxiety directly. This is from my perspective of course. The guy I saw would just crack my neck and do muscle stimulation and all it did was make me sore and more anxious.
A gym membership or therapist specializing in anxiety is a better route IMO
Thank you for your answer! Yes I agree I need to just get my anxiety treated. I was thinking maybe go once just to make sure my neck is ok. And if it is then just continuing to treat the anxiety. I dont wanna do any unnecessary adjustments that might make it worse. Lol. Might as well just do yoga like everyone says and see a therapist!
Yeah, I think checking it out is a good idea... I'm just skeptical about them after my experience haha.
Yoga and talk therapy are excellent though. I do "Yoga with Adrienne" on youtube when I can.
Oh i love yoga with Adrienne! Lol but yeah im still hopeful a med will help with this weird dizziness also.
Me too. I just started prozac. I'll let you know if it helps. You should ask the Dr. for klonopin or xanax if you're open to taking benzos. They're not good to take longterm of course, but they really help when I'm extremely dizzy/anxious.
Wow I really hope it helps you! I will ask my doc about benzos. Id like to take one while I'm getting used to whatever other med I get prescribed. Im super scared of the start up side effects of an ssri but I know I really need relief!
Totally. I'm in the same boat
Yeah I know :/ just let the med work. I am sure you will be ok
Thanks There's always a dozen more to try... I just wish the process was quicker!
No problem! Yeah thats the scary part is having to try so many. But I shall remain positive theres something out there that will work!
That's the spirit!
Haha yes!! 💪😂
Hey wouldnyour brain fog be like out of body confused /lost feeling/ weak? I feel like that a lot
This is exactly how I feel daily -_-
How many mg of Xanax did you take? My dr gave me .25 and I’m scared to take it I have 4 kids and I get scared if side affexts
I take between .25 and .5. Honestly it's like the same as having a small glass of wine. I'm super paranoid about side effects, but Xanax has never made me feel anything but relaxed. I actually take it to deal with the side effects of SSRI's. Also .25 is a VERY small dose. I wouldn't worry at all about it.
Did you have any side affects from ssi
Yes, I had just about all of the common side effects.... but you just have to find one that works for you. The side effects usually stop after a month or so.
I've had facial pain, my nose has gone numb, bizarre headaches, eye tick, back of head tingling, chin pain, jaw pain...all of which I attribute to something wrong with my neck. Please let me know what you figure out. My symptoms are pretty well gone for now but I'm curious nonetheless.
I’ve gone to two chiropractors and seeing a cervixal chiropractor. Everyday, literally I have these headaches that stay with me for hours at a time. Pressurized pain that starts from the base of neck and works its way up. And then these toothpick line headaches around my body. I freak out cause I’m thinking, is my brain gonna burst any moment ? I got a CT scan couple weeks ago and then said everything was fine by I just don’t believe them cause I still get pain and heaviness as if my head wants to fall off. I have an mri scheduled this week. I’m praying nothing is wrong. I hope you’re feeling better
I have the same feeling! My head is always heavy :/
Hey Chelly,
I’m a marriage and family therapist, and have met with a lot of individuals experiencing your symptoms, myself included!
A couple of questions to consider regarding neck pain to rule some things out:
Do you have any history of neck trauma? e.g. car accidents, bad fall, contact sports, concussion, muscle pulls, etc. If yes, how long ago and was it treated/examined?
Additionally, hows your posture? Stand upright/sit upright? Does your job require lots of work seated at desk? Or rigid head posture? Do you lie down with head propped up tilted forward? If none of that seems to apply, then you can definitely rule out any injuries, which brings us to...
Stressors! Within the past 6 months or more, have you experienced anything related to: losses of family/friends, marriage, separation, dissolution of relationship, birth of a child, job change, moving homes, financial change, significant weight loss 10-20+lbs, change in lifestyle/mood, etc.
Generally speaking, lots of stress can lead to tension in the neck muscles, which affects the nerves and blood vessels and leads to all kinds of symptoms like headaches, shooting pains, dizziness, migraines, a sense of pressure in the head or brain fog, even tingling in the hands and arms. These are all very common symptoms of anxiety and excessive tension in the neck.
Chiropractors can do some good work opening up those tensed up areas in the neck and relieve pressure as can massage therapists. Of course, if your problem is social/relational/psychological stress, then you’ll benefit from addressing it through individual, couples, or family therapy.
very sound advice ,its more than likely posture coupled by the fact that anxiety makes us breathe shallowily, and so it goes ,id say that'the most effective remedy for brain fog ,pressure and pain is to practice breathing techniques, and learn the art of relaxation, whether via meditation, etc.reflexology is beneficial too for the entire body ,as I found out . Would be interested to hear what helps you particularly as a therapist..I feel its important to gain tools knowledge for all sufferers to gain insight.!!
I got quite a jolt on a rollercoaster in 2013 but it never seemed to cause me too many problems. But I sit at a desk all day with bad posture so it could be that ....i have also been quite mentally stressed when this happened so Idk anymore lol
Have you had you Thyroid checked? Ive been ill for the past 4 weeks with feeling off balance (every step I take) sore muscles, shaky legs. Its stressed me out a lot - ive been crying constantly, my anxiety has been through the roof thinking I have something seriously wrong with me. My doctor arranged a CT scan but I have managed to do my breathing exercises and make myself calmer which has made a big difference. Im still off balance but im not letting my mind run away with me because then anxiety does take over. I went to the doctors again yesterday and saw the lady instead who said she would do more blood tests.. she called me today to say my thyroid is borderline underactive which could explain all of my symptoms. Ive to wait one month and have the tests repeated to see if there is any change. Im hoping this is the cause and it can be fixed rather than the terminal illnesses i had been thinking of initially! I know how frustrating it can be I have felt like drunk every day - everythings just foggy and hazy, been so tired and moody plus worrying myself sick along with the off balance, jelly legs etc.. its awful. I hope you find the answer soon.
Oh yeah my thyroid has been checked like 3 times in the last couple months it always comes back perfect...ugh so my doc said anxiety. I hope I can find something to help me with anxiety soon it sucks.
Uck its hard having to accept that its anxiety when you feel like theres more to it 😔 i hope you can feel better soon xx
Yes its very difficult to deal with but i am gonna get the anxiety under control soon (hopefully) with my psychiatrist
I'm in the same boat... Literally, I feel like I'm on a boat 24/7
Omg that’s exactly how I feel!
