Just wanted to list the resources that I use for not only anxiety, but for overall quality of life.
Meditation: very helpful for me. Took me a few months to get the hang of it, and still learning, but very helpful to take a bit of time out of the day and close my eyes and focus on my breath. Here's a great phone app that is terrific at offering a variety of guided meditations:
Understanding myself as a Highly Sensitive Person: Books and resources by Elaine Aron. I am a highly sensitive person and I make no apologies for it.
Appreciating the journey and the need to be more comfortable with being uncomfortable: Claire Weekes books and audiobooks are very important to me. It moves me forward with a higher level of functionality. Her works are at Amazon and on Audible.
Making sure I eat well, get some form of exercise and engage my hobby of photography. I found a great film camera on ebay and am shooting with film. Loving it, but I find that I have to give myself permission to pursue my interest.
Setting boundaries at work. I work in higher ed and my position was originally back office kind of stuff. Then with changes to the office, I was pushed out to do more public service oriented work. It drains me, and is now becoming an issue for me to manage my anxiety. I'm making an appt with my HR office to help me mediate with my management on accommodation and fairness towards my condition. This is a big step for me to self advocate.
Engaging others who experience anxiety and panic. As I said in a post from earlier today, it's crucial to have a support community with others who have this condition. Even if we don't see eye to eye on how best to move forward, we can still be a vital help in compassionate understanding.
Alright then...I'm off to my therapy appointment.
Thanks for listening.
