I need to find a way to stop worrying about something bad happening to me.
In the last few years there have been a few life changing bad things happen and no I cannot get these bad thoughts away... that I am gonna die. That I will get some serious illness.. sometimes I think it would have been better never to be born rather than trying to manage all these huge questions and thoughts! Does that sound crazy?

Doesn’t sound crazy. I am the same. And that’s because of the physical symptoms telling me that it must be something underlying. If it’s not ‘anxiety’ I’m told then it’s ‘just my age’ I’m like here, mate (to the gp) I’m only just gone 44 not 94. Shouldn’t hurt all in my muscles etc and feel like the walking dead every day. If I had the answer Matt I’d tell you. The thoughts I don’t think are just as simple as ‘just a thought, so forget it’ I get tired of people just saying forget them. Really not that easy. I just try to keep busy best I can and talk to likeminded people that understand? x
You are susceptible to all of life's problems like anyone else Matt. You got to be realistic ! Let's say you did get a serious illness, then what, you do your best to get well like you are now with your mental illness. Life is short and maybe you have to much time on your hands or maybe need to get a hobby and occupy your mind. When you do get those thoughts, be realistic with them. Try not to be afraid of them and just realise you are only human after all.
Our minds sometimes can be our best friend and at other times be the biggest bully. what it sounds like you are experiencing is something called cognitive distortion. Basically your mind tells you something like " you're a complete loser" or " you should never have been born" then it comes up with negative experiences to reinforce those feelings. here is some reference information about it. bit.ly/2C1gXVD . and the organization also offers free counseling advise and can refer you to professionals in your area. Hope it helps. If you feel like you are ever in crisis there is a national crisis Text Line at 741741 and a professional will text you back. Prayers my friend.
I think a lot of us have been there. I’ve found a couple things: 1). There is no time machine, and no matter how much time you spend talking, worrying, writing, or replaying the past...it won’t change. The only thing you can do is to let it rest and move forward. 2). Worrying doesn’t stop things from happening either! If something is going to happen then it simply is. Fighting and worrying prior to that just beats you up in the now and sucks all your joy out. You were and are meant to be here Matt. You have a lot to offer the world. Don’t let some crumby past experiences and worrying thoughts tell you otherwise.
