Feels like there is a soft spot on my head

Ok so I am completely freakinggg out over what feels like a soft spot on my head. There almost feels like there is a small dent on the right side of my head near the top. It’s really soft and concerning me. I read that soft spots go away when you’re a baby because the growth plates close. Well I’m 5’10 and 18 years old and STILL have growth plates open in my knees and feet (ik this because of an injury and it was discovered on X-rays) and so naturally I’m freaking out because, what if they never closed in my scalp?! So I’m dealing with that bout of anxiety and was wondering if anyone could help.

I can’t tell you if you do or you don’t. As you still have growth plates open elsewhere, I suppose it isn’t impossible but still very unlikely. As someone else has said, I think you probably would have noticed before now if it were true but of course check with a doctor, just in case.

It is also true that skulls are not smooth and nobody’s skull feels exactly the same as anybody else’s. Actually, quite recently somebody was telling me how years ago people used to feel people’s skulls to try and tell things about them, a bit like palm reading I suppose. So it could easily just be the natural indentations of your head you are feeling.

However, even if it is true (which I highly doubt), it clearly isn’t dangerous to you as you have managed to reach 18 without even noticing, let alone having problems to do with it. Try to find something to distract you and relax you- this isn’t as terrible as your anxiety is making you believe.
