I'm a recovering alcoholic and when I was in active use the day after was absolute hell. Drinking was a huge trigger for anxiety. I was popping Xanax like candy and i was still a ball of anxiety. now having a good amount of sober time I'm feeling 100% better.

It used to. When panic attacks and anxiety was at a high for me I couldn't drink alcohol or coffee. They both increase the heart rate which made it uncomfortable and anxious. The way I got comfortable was to drink a beer and stop. Eventually, I got used to it again and no problems now. If you're worried about increased heart beat or you have health anxiety about your heart, it's wise to slowly ease into it.

Yep the hangover makes it a lot worst, but drinking at the start helps me calm after a few drinks it’s only after drinking that I suffer the consequences.

I was an alcoholic . I had to quit drinking because it gave me bad anxiety . I had to recover from it . Quit if you can . Ik 3 years sober. I was saying its hard .

Ya sometimes when I get drunk with vodka it triggers me panic attack and heightened my anxiety levels. Beer doesn't make me feels that.

As a one time very heavy binge drinker, I can only answer it's possible. I have not had a drink for years, and have been told that it was after I stopped drinking my Anxieties became more obvious, so I don't really know tbh

Drinking in moderation never really triggers my anxiety. I dont have an alcohol problem and I find if I drink (rarely) it is just fine to relax in social situations. I am not saying to use it to manage anxiety, but if you dont have a problem with drinking it can be just ok to have a few drinks here and there. Even get drunk as long as you are in a safe place and not driving. Too many times those of us with anxiety do not allow ourselves to unwind. Again I am not supporting being an alcoholic.. I am just saying its ok every once in a while and dont worry about it!

It does increase my anxiety I’ve noticed. So for now I do not drink. While I was drinking I was fine. It was when I would go to bed it would hit and then would be super heightened. The 3 hours of fun wasn’t worth the 4 agonizing days afterwards.

Alcohol exasperates anxiety to its highest point. Stay away from it and learn to control the anxiety. You have to rewire your brain. Good luck.
