I don't understand how I can smile in front of people but I soon as I get alone I cry and become super sad and overthink about everything that's going on. I don't understand why.

I believe you can......I've cried until there were no more tears or until my eyes start to hurt. Somedays I just sit in my room and cry the whole day for no reason at all.
Nothing unusual about that, we all put on our smiley face for others. But you haven't told us what's making you sad and tearful. Whatever it is there's a solution to it but you haven't said yet the cause of your melancholia is. But whatever it is there is a solution so why not share what's causing your anxiety and take it from there?
