Anyway I took a does about a hour ago and now I'm sitting here a ball of nerves,im freaking out just waiting for any allergic reaction. I'm scared out of my mind. I don't know what to do,I feel lost and feel so vulnerable....

Scared of meds
If you have shingles and that medication will ease what you are going to go through you are going to be very grateful. You have no idea how full-blown shingles is like nor the long-term effects. Please just take the meds. I have taken an inoculation injection to avoid an outbreak. Anyone who has had chicken pox has the virus for shingles too, just waiting to appear. I really wish you the best. I saw what my father and uncle went through. You definitely don't want that.
What you want and what you need aren't always the same. If you don't start that med and take as directed and it can ease the effects of shingles, you will regret not taking it. I didn't even know there is something one could take for any relief once the shingles broke out.
Hi Hateanxiety. I have had shingles 3 times. I'm assuming they have you in valtrex or something like it. You will be fine taking the medicine. Just make sure you drink plenty of water to flush your system. Did they give you a nerve pill like gabapentin or something? I got mine on my face and down my shoulder and the back of my neck. The itching and sweating are intense. In about 10 days you will be back to your old self, almost...... You will be tired and might get a head cold from the virus finishing itself. I don't know if your in the US but to get the vaccine there are age restrictions for insurance to pay for it. I was told my insurance won't pay for it until I'm 60 and that's a long ways off, lol. Hang in there if you have any questions or just want to talk I'm here. *Gentle hugs*
I had an outbreak of shingles last year and took the medicine. I was also skeptic about side effects. But I was miserable and knowing it was gonna get worse I decided to take them figuring last resort was a hospital visit. My body accepted the medicine but did not cure the problem. My shingles are still there not as bad tho and flare up when I get stressed out. I won't take the vaccine cause I don't trust it. But make note that the shingles have different severities. Some days I don't even know I have them. And other days their a pain that just hangs on. It just depends on my stress level.
The medicine will not hurt you! But not taking it may make shingles a lot worse!! I've had shingles at least 4 times, and I understand the fear of taking meds. But it's just Fear. The medication will help you, not harm you in any way. Make up your mind to just take it. Then just take it!! You will be so glad you did. Medication is not the boogeyman. The bad stories you hear are so few and far between; the majority of people taking medication do not stop to write a review on effects...only the minority of people who THINK they had a reaction, and it's probably their imagination anyway.
