I have not tried to take prescription medicine yet, I have tried many natural remedies and lots of other resources but I think at this point medicine may be my only option to control the GAD. I just read so many comments about people having bad luck with the medicine, I wanted to see if anyone out there had any good luck to share.

Well sometimes we need to go through some medication that doesn't work until we find the one that does, it's different foreveryone but your doctor is there to help you find the right one

I've tried different ones, the one I'm taking you right now seems to be helping, but you have to be consistent when taking it...Mitazapine, I take it at night, it also helps you Sleep

I haven’t heard of Mitazapine- but I will definitely mention to my Doctor when I go. I have tried almost everything other than medicine for the passed 12 years and nothing really helps to take away the generalized fear of panic attacks and symptoms. Medicine may be my next step...

I have terrible anxiety and health anxiety, mostly because when something has happened to me, and I think I’m sick but get told I’m ok, couple months later it turns out I was right all along. So far I’ve been diagnosed with liver disease and DVT. I’ve been to 3 different doctors before they took me seriously.

I refuse to take medicine for my anxiety. But, I have read AMAZING things about CBD oil. And no, it’s not marijuana it will not get you high or give an euphoric effect like some of the pills they’ll try to push down your throat. You will feel happy, content and at ease. I suggest looking into it. My father who was against it and would NEVER touch it went from 12 pills a day to only 3.

I tried several medications (i.e. SSRIs); Citalopram was the one that works...and still does. For me, however, smoking cannabis ruined / compromised Citalopram’s effectiveness. So, now it’s been almost 8 months cannabis-free, and Citalopram is doing wonders. (It’s nothing less than a Godsend). [40 mg per day]

YES! I have had awful anxiety over the course of the last 15 months, I started taking Zoloft (lowest dose) and it has helped tremendously. I was very hesitant at first because I don't like the idea of having to take medicine to feel better, but I realized I was running out of options to feel better. But you have to remember that any SSRI (zoloft, prozac, etc.) is going to take about 6-8 weeks to fully kick in. In the mean time I was prescribed half a script of Xanax to get me through the really bad days or when I had a panic attack. Also keep in mind that you wont necessarily need this medication forever, you just need something to get your brain chemistry back on track. I was also very cautious of getting addicted to Xanax, but I after the Zoloft started working I never felt a need for the fast relief medication (Xanax).

Hi Candice1025, Since it's been a couple months now since you wrote this post, I'm wondering if you ever did start on any medication? There is a time and a place when medication is needed along with therapy to stop the circle of fear. Once we get to a more stable position, then we may be able to use other tools in working with GAD. xx

Hi Agora, Ironically I just took my first dose of lexapro today! My doctor started me with 5 mg but she said I could take half to begin because I have an extreme fear of medication. So I only took 2.5 but it’s a start! I have wanted to try medication for almost 10 years but up until now I was just to fearful. I wanted to try and heal naturally but at this point I think I need a little help calming down the anxiety and panic. I’m just hoping I don’t get any side effects to bad that would make me stop wanting to take it.

Hi Candice, what timing :) I'm so happy for you. Stay positive and allow it to slowly build up in your system. 2.5 mg is a very small dose. You should be fine. I'm proud of you for taking that first step forward. Good Luck. I support you xx
