Has anyone taken risperdal for anxiety. My dr suggested that i try it at .25 to see if it would help my anxiety. He told me it was a Antipsychotic and to not google the side affects which i haven’t (yet) but just wanted to know if it has helped anyone.

Your doctor is wise. the 11th Commandant is: Thou shall not Google. Talk to MD.

In the USFDA approves a medication for one purpose, it doesn't prohibit its use for other purposes where it is also helpful. That's known as an "off label" use. And I think that's what he is trying to get through to you. The only med that has helped with my almost nightly horrible nightmares in 17 years is a medication that was approved for high blood pressure, but the VA has shown it relieves PTSD nightmares. So, I doubt that Google would even mention that. Just like google probably wouldn't mention why your Doctor is wise enough to RX your med for an "off label" use.

Sorry, I haven't been on Risperdal, but thought I could help explain why your doctor told you not to google it.

No thank you. That helps a lot . He knows google is my go too and said i would find scary stuff about what the medicine is used for and not what he is using it on me for.

I have low blood pressure but take an RX "off label" low blood pressure pill to help stop my nightmares. I said "What?"....but know now my med also lowers my high night level of adrenaline and it works. The Military uses it for PTSD nightmares.
