Does anxiety stop you from driving?

Hi Guys I knows it’s such a random question I’m wondering am I the only anxious person that doesn’t drive? Use to love driving but it has been over 8 years since I drove im tired of waiting my husband to take me places and public transport. I’m scared of hitting people I’m scared of crashing and becoming paralyzed I’m literally a nervous wreck. I just want the start driving again x

Well it's best you don't drive with a attitude of fear of hurting someone or any other disaster. You have to be relaxed yet observant when you drive, at least that's what my opinion on it and I've driven for 30years and NEVER hit anyone, anything or lost control and I never will, at least that's my plan.

I think lots of us have/have had times when we are fearful about driving because of our anxiety though nobody speaks about it much. It's a case of do what you fear and the death of fear is assured. In the War they say that when pilots crashed yhey immediately sent them up so they retained their confidence.

Maybe it's 'chocks away' time, Leyla?

Yes I think I will continue with public transport as my confidence has took a nose dive. I’m too scared to cause issues and I’m jumpy which is dangerous

O.k. Layla, the day will come when your confidence returns and the world will be yours to explore once again.

You can always work on it and build up your confidence over time with small local journeys at quiet times of the day, even night time when the roads are really quiet !!.

All is not lost.
