Modern Christmas music is effing awful. These songs will turn anyone into Charlton Heston RIGHT after he got riddled with bullets in Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Why don’t they leave them alone? Other than the remix of Happy Holidays…I cannot take it. Frank, Bing, Dean, they did it right.
Christmas is almost here. It has different meaning for different folks I am sure. For me, it is a slower time of the year, slower life. The façade of falling snow meeting the iced ground that has the reflection of Christmas lights has become somewhat of a pipedream as the years have gone by. Pittsburgh does not get winter snow anymore, and certainly no on Christmas. Global warming? God pissed off? Mormon Jesus angry? Who knows….but truly…no snow these days.
Birth of Jesus? Many believe this and I guess that is okay. It is the day Constantine decided upon. While most Christians who are not theologically challenged realize, this day has nothing to do with his actual birth. Then again, they also refuse to acknowledge that reincarnation was in the bible just like most other religions, but that book got taken out. Then they decided that you will die, go to heaven and see some relatives. Yet, Isiah states you will forget this world and have no memory of it and spend your time circling the throne of God. Me? It’s Grandads cousin Bing singing to me, the Peanuts special, the Rudolph special…the lights…the smell of cookies baking and the fallacy that the human race might actually be evolved enough to get along.
I am having a small anxiety attack…you know the one…pain in chest and you wonder if it’s a heart attack. Time will tell.
