Was just wondering does anyone know what it’s like to drink alcohol whilst taking Citalopram. I don’t really drink often anyways just now and again I like to have a few glasses of wine and maybes a few beers usually once a month but haven’t drank at all since starting on these meds nearly 2 weeks ago. I was on sertraline before these for 7 years and drank alcohol fine on those just a bit weary incase it has a bad effect on me

Alot of things i’ve read is people saying it’s wine that doesn’t sit well whilst on citalopram and I do like my wine but I also love beer too so think I’ll try drinking that when i’m ready

What did your doctor say about drinking alcohol? You have the chemistry of your medication trying to adjust and being accepted by your personal body chemistry to receive the best results for you. If you add the chemical effect of alcohol, you may be defeating the purpose of taking your med. In any case, I hope your medication is effective for you after you have taken for a while.
