This is my first post but have been reading the posts for a while and there are really helpful.
I’ve been taking Ativan for my anxiety for a long time and my insurance won’t pay for the brand anymore. I will have to take the generic am I’m so scared to switch my anxiety has been really bad having to take the generic. I know that sounds stupid. Does anybody know if there’s a difference or is it basically the same. I have a fear of taking new medication. I appreciate any help you guys can give me. The pharmacist says it’s basically the same, but I would rather hear it from people that have taken both or suffer from anxiety like I do. Thanks

Hi Draga49, Oh I can understand your anxiety rising just from the thought. It takes us a while just to accept taking a medication in the first place. Like you I always wanted the brand name until the insurance wouldn't bake for it. I switch to generic but I will be honest went through the same anticipation after the first pill. Nothing happened. Actually, after the first 20 minutes, I forgot it was a generic. So now, I am happy, my insurance company is happy and the doc is happy.
You will be okay. Don't look for problems. Think positive. Good Luck and let us know how you do x
No difference at all, it's just the brand name, I took the same pill for years until they found out my problem was my thyroid .I understand the fear of new meds, but in this case, you don't need to be fearful different brand same tablet is all it is xxx
