Amitriptyline

Does anyone take amitriptyline for anxiety and depression? What dose you on and is it successful?

Hi I've never tried this medication I take diazepam 2 mg as and when required for flying and if I need a good nights sleepand they work really well for anxiety or fear of flying.

My friend took 25 mg and then increased to 50mg and it worked.😊

I took amitriptyline for many years, it is an older style anti-anxiety/anti-depression med, been around since the 1960s so safe, went out of fashionwhen Prozac came along but now coming back into popular use because of its few side effects. I was put on 3x 25mg a day and within 3 weeks I was fine, it worked, the only side effects are dry mouth and weight gain. After a couple of years the anxiety was breaking through, I was on a maintenance dose of 25mg supplemented by diazepam occasionaly when needed. First time I came of it gradually but 6 months later had to go back on it and was fine again. I think it's a safe and effective med but watch the weight gain.
