I have tried mediation, but it does not help with my anxiety. It even adds to it because I think I should be able to. Anyone have any advice?

Yikes
Abby_Normal, Everyone needs to find what works best for them. Even at that, it takes time, practice and patience in order for your mind to quiet down enough to accept something new. I can't tell you how many years it took me to really understand how meditation and deep breathing could help me. Years of therapy and other methods that reduced anxiety didn't work because I was not open to accepting it. The forum will show you many ways that are used by others. What works for one may not for another. Same with medications.
I understand how not getting help from meditation can actually add to your anxiety out of frustration alone. I turn to YouTube when I have high stress levels. I type in Audio Meditation/DeepBreathing and pick one of many videos out there. I choose the voice that soothes me into a relaxed state. I find that when our minds are agitated and going a hundred miles an hour, we need to hear someone talk us down from our anxiety.
I see you are new to the forum and hope we can help support you. Sharing our journey with anxiety helps in not feeling so alone as well as giving us some ideas in what others find useful. One step at a time will have you reach success. It will happen in it's own time. My best x
