Hurricane Harvey

We live in Houston, Texas and are waiting for the heavy rain and massive flooding that is expected over the next few days. Hurricane Harvey made landfall as a category 4 hurricane further south on the Texas coastline yesterday, August 25. We've had major flooding events over the past 2 years and some houses have flooded during each of these events! In addition to flooding, multiple tornadoes have ripped off roofs and caused other property damage. Understandably, there are many anxious people in southeast Texas; stress levels are pretty high. Officials advising everyone to stay home and not venture out. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you! Raining sporadically so rain able to drain from our neighborhood streets. Lots of property damage, roofs blown off due to tornados, power outages, and flooding in Houston and southeast Texas. Bad weather to continue through Wednesday.

Appreciate your kind words! So heart ❤️ warming to see neighbors helping neighbors on TV. Harvey is just part of the challenges of life; this too will past.

Thank you for your kindness and support! On the positive side, Hurricane Harvey made landfall yesterday, a Friday. Many people are off work on weekends so fewer people are on the streets and freeways. Classes at schools were cancelled and the largest school district delayed the start of their new school year. Houston is the fourth largest city in the United States, and a direct hit from Harvey would have been even more devastating. Now, we will be dealing with massive flooding over the next several days.

Glad you are okay 😊 I heard that it made landfall yesterday- the local CA news reported it. Be careful of those floods, they can sneak up on you. 💛

Thank you, greeneyes2! The last hurricane that hit Texas was Ike in 2008, 9 years ago. Hope everyone heeds the officials' advice to stay home, don't drive through barricades or high flood waters.

Prayers on the way, my niece lives in Rockport and lost hers, and now her mom, my sister is getting water in her home in Houston, evacuating today.

Warm thoughts being sent to your Texas family. Our house was flooded and we've been busy mopping up flood waters and moving stuff off the floor. We've been up since Friday morning. Houston is expecting rain through Wednesday or Thursday. Streets are impassable, and people are stressed and anxious. This is a temporary challenge which we will overcome!
