Yes,it destroys the protective coating around the nerves, so along with that there are a host of symptoms.

In my experience alcohol is kind of hit or miss with my anxiety. Alcohol intensifies emotions so I'd say yes. For me ususally the first two drinks makes my anxiety worse but after 3 or 4 my body calms down of course. Sometimes just feeling "off" and not being in your right mind as an effect of alcohol or other drugs can be anxiety provoking too, not to mention hangovers are the worst thing for anxiety and the long term effects of drinking will make anxiety way worse!

Beer for me makes anxiety better for the moment, but the next day it is 50 times worse. Seriously not worth it.
