Brainstorming...

Friends on this website have recently brought to my attention that I need another more healthy form of 'de-stressing' after a long day. I go for the alcohol. And/or anything with sugar in it. Someone please help me figure out something better to do at the end of a long day. I can't exercise because that will keep me up at night. I guess I could read... or do a puzzle... or write a journal entry or a letter... but all of that sounds lame compared to just grabbing a mike's and a swiss roll (or 3) at the gas station on the way home from work at 10:30pm...

Alcohol and sugar along w caffeine are probably the worst things for anxiety and depression. It's hard to change but sometime we need to do things that give us the best chance to recover. The disease is tough enough on its own. I finally decided to change my diet and lifestyle and it makes a world of difference. Before I was relying on meds to fix me but I was sabotaging the recovery with bad habits. It's like taking heartburn meds so we can continue to eat bad food. It made no sense so I pulled the weed from the root and did something within my control.

You mentioned that excercise keeps you awake when you do it late. Excercise is one of the best things to combat anxiety and depression so if it keeps you awake perhaps try to do it in the morning. It produces good brain chemistry

I struggle with accepting the mundane parts of life. I do a lot of work in the areas of acceptance, gratitude and contribution to remind me that life is good and doesn't need to be a roller coaster ride.

The other comments were also terrific. Good luck.

Haha! I love this post! This was me years ago. Its a tough freaking cycle! Most answers won't appeal to you so I'll give you some fun ones i did.

1. Clash of clans-a phone based game you can never beat or end but will keep you entertained and you can chat with others across the world.

2. Survey based jobs. Just go home and do a couple surveys for extra cash not much but hey it's Better than drinking.

3.gigwalk, offerup and letgo sell or do things that help get rid of junk in the house or do audits on store displays.

Whatever it is make it fun!
