Anxiety is you guiding yourself.

No i'm not totes nuts but I know anxiety very well. Anxiety normally comes along to tell us something and that something is normally that changes are needed. Dont panic!!! These changes can be starting by making the smallest of steps. The first place I would advise you to look is diet.... Are you ingesting lots of stimulants eg sugar and caffeine.... If so cut down by one cup/ bar of choccie a day. Keep reducing gradually.

Next is exercise..... A ten minute walk twice a day??? Using the stairs instead of the lift/elevator. Best of all get outside if you can. Enjoy the air.

Sleep is vital. Simple things like no mobiles/cells in the bedroom can help you to wind down.

Toxic people... We all know at least one of these types.....negative, critical and cynical....try to have as little contact as you can.....if they are a spouse or family member take time for self-care and relaxation.

So they are just a few things you can have a look at.

How do you eat an elephant.....one chunk at a time....... Small steps can make big changes.

All the best xx

Hi Anxietyfree

I agree 100%!

I am anxiety free now and do all of the steps you mentioned, but the one that I feel makes the biggest impact in my life is the exercise one!

I will also add daily prayer, it works for me.

Thx for the positive post!

I don't know if anxiety means that changes NEED to be made. I exercise almost every day, meditate (sometimes), my diet is proper and healthy, I get enough sleep and take care of myself. I see therapists and have been on anxiety meds for 5 months now. I have a loving and supporting family and am very blessed. Everyone experiences stress, life problems and changes. I think anxiety is something that just manifests and can be a response to changes that are happening in your life, good or bad. I get anxiety when I am anticipating a big change in my life or change in routine. That's not a bad thing. It's just the way my body chooses to react to that particular situation. I'm trying to work on making peace with my anxiety and accept that it will be there during the good and the bad.

Everyone feels differently about anxiety but one thing is for sure

...its a habit! Excessive worry and rumination can become fixed patterns and that it why it is good to check out all other possibilities that can be making it worse.

I suffered with depression and anxiety for over twenty years so we are very well aquainted. However everyone is different so everyones recovery wil be different.

Anxiety is our friend when its saving our lives or giving us a heads up but if it stays at a high level for long periods it needs attending to and part of that is acceptance.

For anyone who needs a boost......if you think you need a hero....look in the mirror. Trust me xx

I would to like to add that anxiety can be way of telling us that is something is off within the body. I believe in the diet aspect since many foods can throw off balance in the gut. I've also read that gluten and anxiety are linked, even for people who don't have celiac disease. I simply view it as a imbalance affected by our environment that can be fixed. Even vitamin deficiencies can play a role.

Food intolerances and mood disorders do have links. In my next post i was going to cover this point. I just didnt want to overwhelm people. :-)
