As I looked on the around the waiting room, there was a familiar face. The familiar face was that of Mr. Rogers.

I was standing in a building downtown last year. I was about to meet with a client to give a presentation. I was having awful anxiety and panic. As I looked on the wall in the waiting room, there was a familiar face. To those not in the United States, the name may mean nothing to you. The familiar face was that of Mr. Rogers. No, not it person, he has been dead over 10 years now I believe, but there was his picture and some sort of story. I read the story and it made me feel good for some reason.

It was a true story about the Special Olympics a few years back (for those not in the US, you may have to google Special Olympics). There was a race around the track for the ages of 8-10 years old. 8 people racing. Off they go and after a few steps, an 8 year old boy twisted his angle. Down he went and tears followed. The rest of the 7 competitors…let me type that again…the rest of the 7 competitors stopped, came back, helped him up, locked arms and they finished the race as a team. I don’t know why, but that story made me smile. Maybe it made you smile right now too. If we had more of that, the world would be a better place.
