Yep. It has the amino acid called L-theanine that helps relax. I actually have the L-theanine supplement and the times I have taken it makes me feel like if I took a Xanax.

HopingCat is right, the L-theanine in green tea counteracts the effects of cortisol, a fight-or-flight hormone that is at its peak in our bodies at about 8a.m. As we humans don't get involved in fight or flight at 8 a.m. any more the cortisol stays around and can cause anxiety. I have tried both the L-thainine in tablet form and green tea concentrate in tablet form but I have settled for a cup of green tea plus a green tea concentrate tablet and find this has a noticeable tranquilising effect. I just find that for some readon the tablets are more effective if taken with a cup or green tea brewed from a tea bag.
