Support groups are great if there is one near you. A problem shared is a problem halved as the old saying goes!

Signed up to a small local group that has been running in my area for the last4+ years. I spoke to the head guy Monday by phone for over an hour and he said it sounded like I had general low level anxiety at the moment so last night I went to their weekly meeting. There were just a few there tonight one other lady plus 4 guys and the guy in charge of running the group. It is nice its a small group never more than 10 max each week so everyone gets to talk about their concerns and has interaction with the others that are there. The group is for people with any kind of mental health issues and it is informal and free to attend. I think it is a step in the right direction for me. I shed a few tears as I always do when I have to explain my anxiety issues but when I have that done I know I will be ok going forward next week and will be fine with no more tears. They were a really nice group so looking forward to meeting a few more of them in the future. My advice to anyone would be to try and join a local support group if you have anxiety or depression issues as it helps to talk and to know you are not alone.

Hello

I am really pleased you have found something that is working for you :-)

Support Groups are excellent if you have any in your area , but for some that have Anxiety they can have Agoraphobia or physical health issues which prevents them been able to attend a Support Group and I totally agree with the saying " A problem shared is a problem halved " and that is why for those that can't online Communities like these can be the biggest support for some :-)

I hope yo keep attending the group and your MH recovery goes from strength to strength :-)

Take Care x

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. I am just so lucky that I found this group and it is just about 2 miles from where I live and that I could take a taxi down to join them as I don't drive. One of the group members in fact dropped three of us home to different addresses around town after the meeting so we didn't have to take a taxi.

I find this on line group great support too tho I have only found it in the past week it has been great to read what others are experiencing too and that we are not alone.

That sounds Brilliant !

Also it seems you possibly will be making some good friends and it is better if we can be supported in person I do agree even though for those that can't it is great we have online support :-)

Let us know how it works out for you :-) x
