Day 6... Chest Pains

Chest pain is now located in the middle of my chest, so uncomfortable... My palpitations have toned down quite a bit which is a big relief... Last night I was sleeping and I woke up having a panic attack, my heart was racing so fast and my body was shaking. Has it ever happened to anyone else before?

Hi sammyrom, oh yes it is a very common symptom of anxiety. The chest pain you are experiencing in the middle of your chest is most likely muscular related from being so tense all day. Remember that waking up to a panic attack happens because our mind is never asleep. It holds the stress and fear of the day. As soon as our bodies try to get into that deep relaxation of sleep, an alarm goes off in our body saying something is wrong. We are not use to feeling relax and so what would be a comforting normal feeling with others puts us into a panic.

If worries me so much! It's such an intense pressure and I keep thinking that I'm gonna have a heart attack at any minute.

Have you experienced that intensity before? Do you suffer from Gerds?

No I haven't. I have Acid Reflux but it doesn't feel like that.

But you do have Acid Reflux. Pain from that could be very intense mimicking the feeling of a heart attack. Since none of us are doctors on the forum, you have a choice of calling your physician, going to the ER or taking the medicine that your doctor should have prescribed for your Acid Reflux to see if that might calm the pressure down some. The biggest thing is try to calm down. Stressing out on this is only making the pain worse.

I've been having on and off pain in my upper jaw and left arm too but it doesn't last long. I don't know if it's serious or it's just my mind playing tricks on me. I have an appointment with my family doctor on Monday but I'm debating going back to the emergency room before that.

Well sammyrom, as a former paramedic, those are sometimes signs we watch for in patients. However, people with anxiety seem to know too much info regarding the heart and may jump to conclusions that this is the big one. Many times it's just our anxious minds playing tricks on us. If you really feel this is different than do what you feel is best. Either the ER or waiting til Monday.
