I am wondering what everyones experiences were with Prozac (Fluoxetine) if you have taken it before or currently? I feel as though I want to start it I am just back and forth with it since I have two kids and nobody to "watch" me the first few weeks in case I have a reaction.

I've only got experience with Citralopram(think that's how you spell it) but I lasted a week and had to give it up as I was a complete zombie, I could barely get out of bed, I just figured I'd rather be depressed than feel like that again. Maybe Prozac will be a lot better, to be fair I did wish my doctor had started me on that.

I have been on Prozac for a year now and have had no problems from the start of taking it. I wouldn't be frightened to try it as I'm sure your gp will start you on a low dose. I would like to come off it but don't want the depression back . It hasn't given me any side effects . Citalopram is the devil , don't touch it . I was so ill for a week starting it and never made a blind bit of difference , then had to wean myself off it . Gabapentin is another they dish out like sweeties , awful drug .

I'm sure you will be fine on the Prozac , good luck, Shona

I have found Prozac great. I used to get panick attacks and thinking I was having a heart attack and it helped stop them (along with therapy). I only suffer mild anxiety and mild depression now. Which is manageable. I've been taking it since 2008. I only take 25mg per day. It has really helped improve my life but I did it with psycologist therapy about thought patterns and all that stuff too.

I have been on Prozac for years now. I started out with the lowest dose and I am currently at 20mg...which is still pretty low. I have to say it done wonders for me. I never had any side effects what-so-ever. I tried everything before the doctor gave me prozac and I seemed to have terrible side effects with everything I tried but the Prozac. It never made me feel sleepy, weird, or anything else. I was able to work and take care of my kids just like normal.

Hi, I tried about 10 different meds as i suffered with gad for 2 years and didnt even go out of the house, Fluoxtine 40mg was the only thing that stopped my anxiety and made me feel near normal. I have 2 children so for me this was a life saver. I am now off all meds but taking this for 8 months got my head back together, please try it, it really is good, hopefully you will not need it for long, have you talked to a counsellor or anyone as this also helped me get my confidence back and put things into perspective instead of fearing everything. good luck i hope you feel better soon x
