Hi Roma26,  I was also thinking about that today.  Would like to know what others use for meditation and which ones help the most.   Hope you are okay...

I smiled when I read your post esp. the part about talking to myself.  If I don't who will,  afterall, I'm the one who knows what to say to myself in order to calm me down.  The deep breathing is what pulls me through.  I hope you have a lot more good days than bad.   x

Hi Roma26!

I don't believe there's such a thing as a sure cure when it comes to this kind of stuff. I talk to myself/to God 5 times a day, no matter where I am or what I'm doing. Every day, I take 5 minutes 5 times a day (spread out evenly) and get everything off my chest, whether I'm at home, work, or in my car. Been doing this consistently for 8+ years and what I learned is even though my day may not go how I want it to, it sure goes how I need it to!

Hope this helps :)

no guaranteed cures as we are all different and what works for one doesn't work for another.

I found 'Mindfulness: A guide to finding peace in a frantic world' by Mark Williams and Danny Penman very useful.  Comes with a CD of meditations

Meditation isn't a cure its a way of approaching life by exercising the mind. There are lots of different approaches. A way of coping with difficulties. A way to relax the brain and therefore the mind. A way to help the mind concentrate on what is happening now and not focus on the past and future.

I'm no expert but I do meditate nearly every day sometimes I have a different focus to other days. I don't think any one way is better than another. The important thing is to practice and then it will become easier. I am a great advocate of Mindfulness for those who have problems like pain and stress. Try out some of the free Mindfulness apps online and give it a good few weeks. It costs you nothing but time. Don't ever ever think you have failed because you don't seem to ' get it' or nothing g seems to be happening straight away. You can't fail at meditation. I have sessions where I fall asleep or just drift but I know they are not a waste as my mind will have been absorbing the words somehow.

Do try it could week be a very good move for you.

It varies by everyone.  you don't need to sit and do the humming in a cross leg position      basically meditation is just taking a focused timeout for yourself and your brain      I sometimes just sit in my car with the windows up or cracked  and just relax for about 10 minutes (not a nap) but I just sit in silence without all the daily noise in a park    a parking lot  or even my driveway      I find my car is usually the most quiet

when you feel like you are going into a panic attack when you feel the wave from your feet to your heading coming when you know it is starting    take a time out go into a bathroom sit on a toilet  *yes a toilet     or go outside a door and just take a moment to let it pass      coffee and caffeine can also trigger it    so can chocolate sometimes
