They gave yesterday zoloft and xanax and I am very afraid of taking it, because what happens if that give another panic attack? Is that even possible?

Afraid of taking Medication
it's possible for new medications to start off by making you more anxious. Often they are given with Ativan or something similar to help calm you down. Its usually the first two weeks that are the hardest with new medication. After that I think you would start to feel better. People often have a life time of relief. Definetaly worth a shot. Another panic attack won't kill you remember that! But I understand where you are coming from as I don't take any meds currently because im afraid and haven't had any luck with any I have tried. Good luck!
Xanax has been a godsend for me. It's a wonderful medication. Please don't be afraid of it.
You were given xanax to help with the symptoms you will get while your body is getting adjusted to Zoloft. Xanax should stop the panic attacks until Zoloft kicks in. Your anxious mind causes the panic attacks. Be more positive and you will have a positive life. Zoloft will help you do that. Good luck. Just a note, it takes about a month for Zoloft to really start working, so hang in there. You will feel better.
I've never had a panic attack while trying a new drug but it takes a lot of convincing for me to try something new. It's all a part of the anxiety disorder. The "what if's" pop up.
Try to take the Zoloft and Xanax with a positive attitude that it WILL help you in the long run. Good Luck!
