Hello, everyone. This week I have been a mess. A complete mess. I was scared to go to sleep Monday night, so I ended up staying up until 5. I then went to sleep and got up at 6:30. So, I only had an hour and a half of sleep... So, I was already exhausted, and then not long after I woke up I noticed a lump on the back of my head. It is on the left side, and it is not visible to the eye. It's not red or pus covered or anything weird like that. It's just incredibly sore. My girlfriend swears that it is a zit. I guess I've just never had a zit like this. Basically it's so sore that it makes my head ache a bit in that area. I really don't know what to think about it. I texted my doctor, and she also said that she was not concerned about it. Well, if that were all, maybe I could cope with it. My lymph nodes on the left side of my neck aren't necessarily swollen, but I can feel them more than I can on the right side. I'm just so concerned that there is an infection in my head, and it will result in meningitis. I told my doctor about all of this, but she said that none of it is concerning. I want to trust her, but I just don't know what to think. Any support or guidance would be appreciated.

Hi dear: I've had that on numerous occasions. Real sore to the touch and of course you worry. It could be an infected hair follicle. Between products we put on our head as well as scratching our heads could cause an irritation. Try to trust in your doctor, I'm sure if she was the least bit concerned, she would see you. As soon as you believe in your doctor, your anxiety level will go down to the point of forgetting that it is even there. I certainly understand your fear and concern. I wish you well and hope it goes away soon.
