I am awake and know how you feel. I should explain tho that I am in NZ and it's early evening here. Just try to breath deeply and I always found sitting upright helped me rather than lying in bed

Thank you jeffju ill try that I think it's because my mind is focusing on my symptoms which is making it worse

It's always so much worse at night when there is nothing to keep you busy. if it doesn't go away try reading, watching tv. I know it's early there but better that stressing out. Your mind goes into overdrive, I know it's awful

I use The Bach flower Sleep rescue rememdy and that does help to settle your mind. It's available at the chemist or health shop

Hi perry tan,

Hope you managed to sleep. I use Kira restful sleep, it's herbal. It helps me when I am anxious and worrying about stuff.

in reply toperrytan

Oh bless you , I hope you do to :-)

I always make sure I am not hungry when I go to bed , I dont mean by eating near bed time , but making sure I have eaten a few hours before & I wait till I am so tired before I try to go to bed as well , it seems to work for me & I would rather go to bed late & get 7 hours full sleep than try & go to early & not be able to sleep or be waking up all night !

Hope you have been able to relax today , I no its not sleeping , but resting is good for you :-)

Hi why why I can't eat before I go to bed and I'm so tired I could go to bed now but I'm not going to sometimes I wake up about 5in the morning feeling sick and my stomach churning and when I get out of bed I feel as though I'm going to be sick

in reply toperrytan

I no & if I am honest , I feel tired but its to early & if I dropped to sleep now , I would wake up , so I make myself stop up , like in a minute I will have a shower & that will wake me up a little

Do you feel you make a lot of Mucus at all ?

I no I do & if I lay on my back I can feel it trickle down my throat & this can make me wake up feeling sick

Also I like my bedroom cool as well

I am sure its nothing serious , but you could have a word with the GP , if you havnt already & when they say its nothing then you will have peace of mind & be able to tell yourself as unpleasant as it is , you no its your anxiety

Hi,

I read peeps posts often, I just don't reply (I find it very tiring and hard work to churn everything up!) This post reassured me, its not just me! I wake 3-4 times in the night very confused and disorientated, I also wake at 5am, with a churning stomach and feeling very nauseous, I then worry I won't be able to get back up for work at 8am and if I'm sick I can't call into work because I need to unlock! I get 'rushing' feelings in the night, I swear sometimes I can hear my own heart echoing around the room, I get sweaty and sticky and feel tingly all over.

I now have a routine! I have a 10watt light bulb in a bedside lamp with a dark cover, I turn the light on so its not all black everywhere (this freaks me out no end) I sit up, or raise my pillows (just like the other post said) I then use my deep breathing techniques and keep a very simple Winnie The Pooh book by the read to skim over and 'concentrate' my mind, I NEVER check my phone or watch, I really don't want to know what time it is!! I then 'rest' I don't worry about sleep, or forcing my eyes shut. I also keep a battery operated radio by the bed on the World Service station, I turn that down low and have it running in the background.

I also take Valerian ( at night, I swear by it, i did take 2 a night and now I am weaned onto 1!!)

schwabepharma.co.uk/

But if I don't take the Valerian I am up and down like a yo yo all night!

ps: Sometimes if you suffer with acid reflux, it can creep up the back of your throat and make you wake up freaking out heavy breathing, panicked that you will die! The acid comes up your throat and cause you to wake up! This is one to definitely one to chat to your GP about as there are treatments and you could just maybe change your diet! I just avoid spicy food and tomatoes and red wine after 6pm!

I hope this helps!!!

xx peace and love

is were i get it from, you can also buy it from Boots the Chemist, they do a Sleepeaze tablet that is very good but it smells like a badger!! haha.

That sickness is adrenaline, pumping around, I am so frighted I will be sick I have a big plastic bowl and nappy wipes by the bed, very rarely have I been tho! The churning is because when you are anxious your stomach goes into flight or fight and thinks you are fighting off a lion! Your body stops digesting and processing your food so you can attack said lion. Obviously there is no lion, but by this point you brain has signaled to your tummy to stop digesting and all that food sits in your belly festering, which makes you queasy.

Peppermint essential oil (Boots the chemist, Holland and Barrett) on a tissue and sniffed with deep breathes helps, and a nice cool flannel! (i keep my nappy wipes in the fridge and take them up to bed with me!)

Thankyou for all your information pixiestix ill try them all xxx

I need to be really tired before I go to bed. I take nytol non herbal medication, it works sometimes. Most doctors seem reluctant to give out sleeping pills, but I'm always so tired. I work shifts which doesn't help. Hope you find a cure. Take care
