After research, I've found I suffer from catastrophic thinking and when I suffer, it is almost unbearable, so I'd be interested to know what I can do!?

Can you get meds from your GP to control your anxiety?
Hello hal
I would go & see my GP
If you are suffering with what you have researched , they are the best people to clarify this & then tell you what treatments are available
Maybe counselling could be the way to go , as this helps reverse our thoughts
Let us no how you go on

Hi Hal, I would certainly see what your GP say. There is a lot of good medication available. Also he may suggest therapy or counselling
I'd like to think there is a lot of medication for anxiety out there, but the fact is there just isn't. Most GP's will prescribe an anti-depressant. This can work for depression but not always for anxiety, or atleast if it does help for anxiety that is simply a side effect. The only real medication that kills anxiety are Benzodiazepine tranquilisers which are highly addictive if taken for more than a few weeks but can help a lot for short term use. Like all medications they are only a temporary relief and other therapies like counselling, CBT or NLP should be sought. Herbal remedies can also work for anxiety, so I've been told, as can meditation. Good luck.
