Can anyone tell me how long this awful tightness in the throat lasts is making me worry even more as its just not going away

Hi...i know what you are going through I have awful problems with my abdoman the symptons are awful...but they will fizzle out eventually its all down to the anxiety when I feel sort of calmer my symptons ease.but when I am shaky and panicky im at my worse and my belly is awful. Do you do any relaxing listening to cds or gentle exercise this may help ...i hope you feel better soon xxxx

I do try very hard to relax the doctor told me it's muscle spasm but it's there nearly all the time it does go away occasionally I just worry it's something serious and the harder I try not to worry the more I do worry xxxxxx

I worried too you just cant help it..i thought I had every cancer going cocerning my abdoman I now tell my self its the anxiety ...because thats what it is...and thats what yours is too I know its hard not to worry and have fears because anxiety is holding the reins ...and the symptoms are horrible but you will get relief. It will take time please dont worry its nothing serious xxxx

As a VERY long-term health anxiety sufferer I can tell you that the more you focus and worry about a feeling or pain (or keep poking a tender/sore/suspect area of your body) the worse it will get and the longer it will take to go away.

I've had the throat thing so many times, one year I seemed to have it all the time, then I 'found' a new illness to worry about and suddenly realised I hadn't had the throat thing at all since I'd focussed on my new worry.

Distraction is the key. Not easy as I know only too well.
