I have very severe anxiety due to trauma and I can’t ever calm down. I’m on medication but when I start to have a panic attack I can’t get out of it by myself. Any tips for panic attacks?

Hi Cuteavacodo and Welcome to a safe informative community of friends.

Having a Panic Attack can be frightening for sure. However, learning what

the attack consists of and how to treat it can help bring down the fear.

My "go to" has always been YouTube...It has many informative videos that

may help you.

Please take a listen to this one..

You might benefit from working with a trauma therapist, mine used emdr which was helpful for my healing and also helped a lot with my anxiety. You might also check out the DARE Anxiety youtube channel, there is a lot of good info and advice for dealing with panic attacks and anxiety, I even subscribed to their phone app while I was healing which was helpful, ther is also a book available.

have you tried this?

inhaling slowly through the nose and exhaling gently through the mouth while consciously expanding the belly with each breath; popular techniques include "box breathing" where you inhale, hold, exhale, and hold again for a set count, or the "4-7-8" method where you inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds.

Ice bag on my neck and chest or big bowl filled with ice water and dunk my face in.

But I can understand that would be inconvenient.

Another thing that works is Sour candy. Like the sour candy that turns your face almost inside out! Works great for stopping a panic attack. Plus you can carry some in your pocket.
