Has anyone been prescribed sleeping tablets while on anti depressants? Haven't been sleeping right and just saw my GP today so he recommended a sleeping tablet (short term). It's Dormizol or Zolpidem that I've been prescribed. I'm currently on Prozac. Does anyone know if there's any side effectd to the sleeping tablet and if it might interfere with my anti depressant?
Thanks

I would just take your medication as prescribed because I don't believe a doctor would give it to you unless there is an interaction between your medications.
I take 50mg trazodone in conjunction with my 60mg of Prozac to help aid in sleep. No side effects or drug interactions between the 2....the only thing I would caution about any medication that helps with sleep is to make sure that you have adequate time to devote to sleep. Hangover effect can be terrible
Since everyone reacts differently to psychoactive drugs, you'll only know for sure how you respond after you try taking the meds together.
Your pharmacist knows a lot more than the doctors do about meds and interactions. Give them a call and ask what you want to know. The "head pharmacist" may be the most useful. You can be more proactive by asking for the PIL (patient information leaflet) and reading it. It's slow going.
I had a life-threatening reaction to being given Zolpidem along with an AD. See, some other members did well on it.
I like drugs.com for checking on interactions and side effects. It often has patient reviews too.
