Work Burn Out

Does anyone have advice on how to deal with work burn out? I took my fourth personal day in two months. Yesterday at work I was hit with new tasks I did not see coming. So it just hit me very hard. I just feel after two years of holding this position that I have hit a wall and this is usually not me.

Can you get coworkers to help or talk to your boss about the load of work you suddenly getting?

Yes, I can. I know this is what I should do. At times in the past I try to be Superman.

Our body lets us know when to step back and take a breather.

When we take on the part of being super human, it comes with a cost.

Something to remember :) xx

Find another job, one that you'll enjoy a lot more than this current one.

This happened to me and to be honest, I ended up taking a leave of absence after I had to call out sick 2-3 times and admit myself to ER about 2 times cause I was feeling like I was on my death bed. Mind you, I have never called out and I have reached the limit in PTO hour accrual.

I’m saying all that to say, sometimes when we need to take a break and we don’t choose to consciously our body will make the choice for us, most times at an inconvenient time. So how did I learn to deal with burn out? Making it a habit to give to myself and give to myself first and foremost so I can show up in the way I need to and want to for others.

I put my phone on DND for 24 hours a day. I have a setting for personal, work and sleep. This limits the unnecessary noise so-to-speak. I also set time in the morning to meditate and in the evening to reflect. Gardening also has really taught me how to slow down to smell the flowers. I hope this was helpful. <3
