I have health anxiety and overthink and worry about taking any new medication. I have been prescribed aciclovir for shingles and I’m so scared about taking the first one as I’ve seen dizziness is a side affect? Anyone got any advice or taken these before? Thank you

I know it can be frightening to take a new medication due to the side effects. This drug has been around for a long time. I took it about 31 years ago for chicken pox. I was 19 years old at the time, and the varicella vaccine was not quite out back then. All I really remember about the medication was that it stopped the virus from further spreading in my body, stopped any more pox from forming, and I was feeling much better within a few days. As I understand, shingles is a very painful virus and can have some complications if not treated. If your physician has prescribed it for you, and knows your medical history, you may want to try taking it. If you happen to have any side effects, contact your physician. If you have questions about the medication, you can call your physician or pharmacist as well. I hope that you feel better and are not in too much pain. 😊
Sorry you’re dealing with this Kimbad. Totally relate to health anxiety it’s absolute crap. I hear you. And taking meds or anything and seeing side effect lists is even more crap. Feeds the health anxiety beast. I agree with everyone else. If they gave it to you they’re probably thinking of the benefit for you and getting you better. Just try it and say ok I’m letting go prayers up and hopefully no side effects.
