I'm sure many of you can relate to this, but I find my anxiety always sparks when it's time for bed. My thoughts begin to race, my heart palpitates, and I am tossing and turning for hours. My mind wanders back to memories from YEARS ago that I didn't even realize I had. It drives me nuts. I used to take melatonin to sleep at night, but my body became immune to it and it stopped having an effect on me. Any suggestions in replacement of that? I didn't want to go back on something to help me sleep, but it's been months of me having trouble falling asleep and it's draining waking up exhausted because my mind won't shut off at night.

hello. sorry you’re having trouble sleeping. I’ve never heard of a tolerance to melatonin. that isn’t possible so what an anomaly that is you have.
I suggest turning off all of your devices over an hour before sleep and invest in a white noise generator or fan or something. check YouTube for guided meditations and body scans. wake up and go to bed at the same time everyday if that’s possible.
talk to your doctor about the melatonin. how much were you taking?
I have trouble sleeping, and what has helped me fall asleep at night (but not necessarily stay asleep throughout the night) has been laying down in a dark room listening to meditation/self-hypnosis recordings near bedtime - something that coaches you through a body scan and deep breathing to relax the body and shut down the mind. Unless I'm having a really bad night, that usually gets me to a state where I can crawl into bed and fall asleep .
I do also take melatonin, and currently take meds to help keep me asleep. I was at a point where I had to resort to the meds because I wasn't getting much sleep and so drained.
